Kenneth CundiffKenneth “Ken” Carson Cundiff, Jr., age 75, of Liberty, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center, in Somerset.

Ken was born on December 17, 1941, in Danville, son of the late Kenneth “Carson” Cundiff, Sr. and Ethel Whitehouse Cundiff.  He was a teacher for 25 years, earning his Master’s Degree and his Rank 1 through E.K.U..  He taught 5th grade at Meade County, 6th at Johnson Elementary of Fayette County, then substituted for years in all grades in the Casey County School System.  Ken married Tishana Lee Hodges on August 8, 1981, in the Phil Community of Casey County.  He was serving as treasurer of Casey County Retired Teachers Association, a past President and Vice President of the Meade County Jaycees.  Ken was named a Kentucky Colonel and was Volunteer of the Year in the Casey County and Mid Cumberland District Retired Teacher Association in 2014.  Ken was an Elder and Disciple of Christ in the First Christian Church of Liberty, where he was a devoted long-time member.  He enjoyed traveling with his family, had been to all but three of the United States, and to multiple foreign countries.  Ken loved the ocean and going on cruises.  Ken spent thirty-five years living in and remodeling the home of his grandparents, in Liberty, a labor of love with his family.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Tishana Lee Hodges Cundiff, mother of Kenneth Carson “Trey” Cundiff, III, of Key West, FL, Heather Lee Cundiff, of Liberty, and Benjamin Wade Cundiff (Michelle), of Winstead, CT; his ex-wife, Sandra Leonard Cundiff, mother of Kimberly Lane Cundiff, of Richmond, and Amy Paige Cundiff Tavakouli-Klepp (Brian), of Alachua, FL; his brother, David Whitehouse Cundiff (Beverly), of Liberty; grandchild, Lumen Klepp, of Alachua, FL; nieces, Tammy Gossage (Joe), of Windsor, and Sarah Bailey Duckworth (Josh), of Louisville; nephews, David Neal Cundiff (Georgiana), of Liberty, and Christopher Lee Bailey (Kelly), of Louisville.

A Celebration of the Life of Kenneth “Ken” Carson Cundiff, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 5:00 p.m., at the First Christian Church of Liberty, with Rev. Homer Hecht and Dr. Bob Mallory officiating.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the church, Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. until time for Memorial Services.
