Casey County authorities are cracking down on under age youth tobacco sales.
The Casey County Sheriff’s Office tells us Vasantkumar Patel, an employee of Sallie’s Country Store, was cited for sales of tobacco products to a person under the age of 18.
Sheriff Chad Weddle says his Office is involved in an on-going joint investigation, along with Liberty Police, and Alcohol Beverage Control Officers.
Authorities are currently looking for Vijaykumar Patel. He is a former employee at A&D Market in Liberty, who also sold tobacco products to a person younger than 18.
Numerous similar complaints have been received about these two stores, and others in Casey County. One such complaint came from the mother of a 13-year-old boy who purchased a JUUL starter kit from the A&D Market.
Sheriff Weddle reminds everyone that you must be 18 or older to purchase, or sell tobacco products.
If anyone has information about any store selling these products to under age customers, please contact the Casey County Sheriff’s Department, Liberty Police, or the Office of Alcohol Beverage Control.
